For Reference Use only. William E. Fontaine Biography William E. Fontaine Artist, Sculpture and Framer: He opened Fontaine's Framing Studio and Gallery in Medford, Oregon in 1962. He studied sculpture at the California School of Fine Arts under Ralph Stackpool. The Famous sculpture of the 85-foot "Pacifica" that was shown in the 1939 San Francisco Exposition. William also went to the Academy
of Advertising Arts in San Francisco where he studied water
color and oils under George
Post, Millard
Sheets and Jose
Moya Del Pino. In 1978, William had leg surgery at RVMH: Rogue Valley Medical Hospital where he befriended a registered nurse named Carolyn Fitzgerald. William promised to send some of his "Stupid Sketches" as he wrote it in a note on one of the pictures when he returned home in Lander , Wyoming. There was a total of 47 pencil, pen and ink and a few colored pencil on drawing paper, cardboard and one on blue card stock. It is believed that Mr. Fontaine drew some of these drawings while admitted at RVMH. This Collection is owned by T. Hill and is available for display and shows. T. HILL acquired the collection at a local antique second hand store in 1989. Williams' last known address was: William E. Fontaine 769 So. Third St. Lander, Wyoming 82520. No letters were ever returned to the current owner of the collection. for information on loaning and displaying this rare and valuable collection.
