$free post and insurance 18 X 25 original watercolor painted in 1956, Bel'em Brazil:
signed Lower right corner seller: ph fax 541-488-5421 E-mail: sportthis@rocketmail.com. I have
lots of paper work and letters. A letter written to a former owner about the Bele'm, Brazil piece.
"Thank you for sending along the print of an [original] watercolor done by me 38 years ago. The
location of it is, Bele'm, Brazil, near the mouth of the Rio Par'a, part of the Amazon basin. It is easy
to find on the map. I was on assignment '56 for Varig Airlines, painting some of the major stops.
Bele'm was one of them. I also managed to do a few things for myself. I have another painting very
similar to it that I kept as a reminder of that trip. Since this is not a subject that I would normally
paint today, and since it was also done 38 years ago when I was just starting out and working in a
style somewhat different from the way I work today, it would not be of interest to my galleries. How it
ever found its way to the open market is a mystery to me. Thank you for your interest in the

Arthur Shilstone is a watercolor artist who blends impressionistic & realistic styles with beautiful
success. In hes paintings, Shilstone strives 'to impart a sence of place as well as the mood.' Born
in New Jersey, Silstone has now been a resident of Connecticut for more than 30 years. Shilstone's
initial enrollment in the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York was interrupted by World War II. During
hes three years in the Army in the European Theatre, he spent as much time skethcing as he could.
After the war, Shilstone returned to the Pratt Institute from which he graduated in '47. More in
